I have experience working with young people in 2 summer camps in the US, teaching maths at Mathnasium Wimbledon and at Merton College in Morden. I myself was also tutored in A Level maths for 1 year, so I understand which methods are most effective for teaching students on a 1:1 basis.

The format of my lessons will depend on the student. If they have a specific area that they would like to be taught in, I will prepare resources and questions surrounded that topic ensuring they understand the surrounding concepts in its entirety. If the student has multiple areas of interest I will cover them and set homework and in following lessons I can make sure they understand the relevant topics, and if not, explain them. For example, a student may ask that they need help with X, I will then explain the topic and complete an example question. They will then complete similar based questions to test their knowledge. Following this they will be asked to complete a more complex question within the topic to prove they understand the concepts required to answer an array of questions. If the student feels comfortable we can move on to other topics, and if not, we can practice more questions and go over theory again until they are confident.

I will use an array of online resources to provide questions which help students learn the relevant topics or use the resources provided directly from the student, i.e. a course book or homework.
