My strength with tutoring is my ability to tailor my lessons to suit the individual and adapt to their way of learning. I use an interactive platform that is similar to a ‘whiteboard’ that we can both write on. I can quickly analyse your strengths and areas to improve and show you diagrams and examples of answers to unlock any areas that you find difficult.
Students make rapid progress in my lessons because I provide clear explanations based on helpful diagrams, worked examples, scaffolded examples that we complete together and then questions of slowly increasing difficulty. This avoids those ‘I don’t think I can do this’ moments by carefully matching the demand of a task to your requirement.
I have taught A-level physics, IB Physics, GCSE Physics, GCSE science and GCSE Computer Science with many hundreds of successful students. Many of these have gone to have successful careers in science and some are even teaching themselves now.
I am a physics specialist having graduated in Physics with Electronics from the University of Kent. I also have a Masters in ‘Communication Systems Engineering’. I am a fully qualified teacher with a ‘PGCE’, ‘Qualified Teacher Status’ and 29 years of experience teaching and leading in diversely different schools.
I have been an examiner, a principal examiner, a test writer and a unit writer for science specifications. I know precisely how to prepare pupils for examinations as this has been a major part of my work for the past 29 years.
I have a full DBS certificate and I complete regular safeguarding training.
