I like to tailor my lessons to the needs of the learner, so prior to the lesson starting I like to get an idea as to whether a more general explanation of the subject or an in depth exploration is needed. Then I can create custom lesson plans and materials for the lesson.

Starting with a high level overview I establish the fundamentals, whether that be of physical computing or networking before drilling down into the meat of it. At each stage I like to do a quick knowledge check and recap to ensure the learner isn't being left behind before expanding further on the subject.

For 1 to 1 training I try to keep things fairly informal and light but can operate in a more formal setting with little issue. The lessons are aided by self-created slides and handouts which can be provided for learners as reference material.

My experience comes from a very practical background so my lessons are informed by this. I've spent five years in technical support and help desk roles so can provide an experienced eye to what's needed in such a setting. But this is backed by a solid theoretical understanding and reading of academic journals. I hold multiple professional certifications both as a generalist and with more of a security focus.
