My lessons will be tailored to your needs. For example if you are studying an exam syllabus I will structure lessons around this. Of course if you only need help with one topic then I can deliver a series of lessons that build your understanding step by step and introduce the knowledge in a bitesize way.
Typically my lessons will begin with a stimulus, i.e. a picture, video or topical event that highlights an aspect of the lesson content. It is always useful to begin by finding out what you already know about this and any initial ideas you have. It may involve a short discussion or exchange of ideas. There may be a short quiz or Q&A.
Then we'd look at key concepts, definitions and theoretical terms necessary for building understanding as well as going over the objectives for the session.
The main section of the lesson could be a piece of text, a case study, a theory, problem / dilemma or an enquiry (depending on the topic) and this will often include comprehension questions as well as exam practice material (if relevant). This is the time to unpick the concepts and build confidence.
We'd usually conclude with a review of the lesson, possibly a knowledge check or exam question. There are a multitude of quick and easy, low stakes methods for doing this. It may be more appropriate to simply discuss what has been delivered in the lesson and to check whether the understanding has progressed as planned or whether there are any misconceptions.
