My experience
I have mentored and aided other students in the subject area of history. I have been a part of my school's Subject Mentor scheme in the past, helping younger students with both History and English. Currently I am the founding member and administrator of my school's History Association which teaches students of all year groups topics in history which are not part of the school curriculum. These responsibilities helped me to cultivate the quality of being able to articulate topics and teach others. I am adept at learning (even entirely new) concepts, creating resources, and then conveying information to others. My grade of 8 (A*) also reflects my own personal revision styles and exam techniques and its efficacy on an objective level. I take A-level History, I have been achieving consistently high grades throughout this past year (A-A*) which further shows how I have consistently successful methods to my learning and revision. I have also undertaken an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) in year 12; my topic pertains to history and this has further facilitated my own interest in the subject and my proficiency at presenting information about, specifically historical, concepts and their nuances to others.
My teaching style consists of:
- teaching on an online call, such as Zoom or Skype Online. I will be able to share my screen and talk to the student and engage with them in discussion.
- powerpoint presentations and me explaining concepts according to students concerns discussed in a 'pilot lesson'.
- discussion style learning, answering their queries and explaining topics depending on what they believe they need to know too.
- providing work resources and tasks for the student which I can assist with (tasks on content and exam-style work).
- providing lessons on content and exam technique/structure.
- allowing student to either work through tasks independently and then working through the task alongside them afterwards, or assisting them according to their needs.
- I am able to adapt to the student's learning style and level of difficulty at which they see the subject!
