My lessons usually begin with a very upbeat mannerism, to where I will spent 2-3 minutes asking the student about their day and how they are feeling so I can get a grasp of what kind of mood they are in and what their attitude towards learning that particular day is, at that point I will then adjust my tutoring sessions accordingly.
So we would usually start with the things that the student is struggling with the most for example if I had a younger child and the main focus is spelling I have a vast number of PDF’s full of life and colour to really make it look attractive and not so boring that was we can enjoy learning to spell together, I also can provide a number of worksheets to send out to each student so that when we are learning we can do it together,
If for example I was to have a GCSE level student we would first find out what areas they are going to be doing for English Literature so we can focus on that together as that is one of my speciality subjects nevertheless I consider myself to be professional and proficient at everything else this is just something I particularly enjoy,
So for English language again I have a fairly “fun” approach but not quite as colourful as I would teach for the younger children as it generally makes teenagers feel a bit embarrased or think it’s a bit too much for them as they are turning into young adults, and we will really delve deep into which areas they are really struggling on wether it be
Using the right words together to form a descriptive sentence, the right grammar and not being repetitive! This way we will help them work towards their Ideal GCSE grade
