I am an experienced tutor who has empowered students to improve their grades over the past 5 years, completing over 500 sessions in-person and online. I can offer flexibility as I am a full-time post graduate student at LSE with a Bachelors in Architecture from the University of Bath. These both give me an understanding of the real life implications of maths which is so important in helping students discover their interest in the subject.
Improving confidence and providing targeted exam practice are the hallmarks of my teaching style. I believe that familiarising students with exam formats and timed conditions enables them to overcome the stress involved in GCSEs and excel in maths. I pride myself on providing tailored sessions for students of varying abilities. Ensuring confidence and safety to ask questions is essential as the power of 1-to-1 tutoring is the opportunity for students to raise questions they may not have felt comfortable raising in the classroom.
Each hour-long session typically begins with a 5-minute recap of the previous week's topic to help consolidate understanding. We will then move on to the specific topic/s for the week which students can let me know up to the day before. This can range from consolidating in-class topics to complement their learning and help them get the most of class sessions to taking a separate approach to move through different topics and ensure any potential gaps. We will culminate each session with exam-style questions on the topic covered, completed to timed conditions to help acclimatise students to the pressure involved in an exam setting.
With my breadth of experience, I am able to tailor our sessions and my teaching style to student's individual needs. I have experience working with students with varying abilities, special educational needs and neurodivergence. Combined, this all equips me with the skills to enable you, or your child, to succeed in your maths exams, empowering you with the knowledge, exam skills and confidence to flourish.
