Thomas Mcdougall

Hi, I’m Thomas. I am currently an A-Level student studying Maths, Chemistry, and Physics and I
achieved the highest grades in my year (six grade 9 GCSEs and two grade 8 GCSEs) and even
appeared in my local newspaper due to this. I know how challenging these subjects can be but
with the right approach they can become much easier to understand and even enjoyable.
Having recently gone through GCSEs myself, I understand the best revision methods and exam
strategies to help bring success. Speaking from personal experience, I believe that the best way
to learn is through building off a strong foundation of knowledge and that I am able to both
reinforce that base and help further knowledge grow and flourish. Maths and science can often
feel overwhelming so I focus greatly on helping students gain confidence in their abilities and
knowledge in order for them to feel well equipped for exam questions instead of intimidated by
them.
From using physics to explain how a roller coaster works to linking chemistry to everyday
reactions such as how fuel makes aeroplanes fly, I like to use a variety of real-life examples to
make what I am teaching more interesting and easier to understand. I believe that nobody
learns the same and therefore my lessons are tailored to each individual and their needs. My
lessons are structured around what is most helpful for the student; whether that is going over
past papers, reviewing classwork, making revision resources, or preparing for exams. I create a
relaxed and supportive environment where you can ask any questions, pressure-free.
