Hi prospective students! Firstly let me tell you about myself. I grew up and was educated in the UK, and completed a Masters degree in chemistry at Oxford. Since 2016 I have been living in Colombia, where I have since been working in the teaching sector, and in the last few years in private tutoring. I have been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), mathermatics and chemistry during my time here.
Let me tell you about my approach to tutoring. For me, there are three core elements to a successful class. It must be engaging, it must show a clear progression, and it must be focussed on the student's goals. Therefore when I start with a new student, I get to know about their background, their interests, their current level, and their learning aims. From this I construct a learning plan with well-defined aims for each class, and I I try to personalise each class for the student. I also give detailed and appropriate feedback at every stage, helping the student to improve at every stage. I am happy to take longer or set additional practice on concepts that may be more challenging. At the start of a class I set out the aims, then we progress step by step. I also utilise a range of media in my classes, for example texts, videos, audios, and also incorporate games that will help the student to grasp the concept. So if you are interested, please contact me and we can organise a schedule.
