I am a Civil Engineering consultant with a Masters Degree in Engineering. During my time at university, I worked at multiple schools in the Cardiff area as a teaching assistant. This promoted my love of teaching, which is why I want to do this alongside my current full time job.
My target students are GCSE Maths pupils, hoping to up their grades before entering college or sixth form. During my time at university I had practiced many different forms of revision, which has allowed me to hone in on bringing up difficult topics with different methods.
My methods of teaching include an initial assessment of your capabilities at the given subject. Further from this, I aim to bring up academic weaknesses while solidifying strengths by incorporating dedicated lesson time to more difficult subjects, while giving small pieces of home revision work to keep up the easier topics.
I do not believe in using lesson time to sit and watch a pupil work, but rather interact with them to delve into understanding the topics at hand, as I’m sure school revision work gives enough repetitive questions. In doing this, it keeps my pupils engaged so that when they face exam questions, they understand how to approach it, rather than following a memorised method.
