Hi! My name is Tess, I'm currently working as a full-time Science and GCSE Chemistry teacher, with over 3 years' tutoring experience, mainly in GCSE Biology. I achieved grades 7-8 in GCSE Biology Chemistry and Physics, and completing A-Levels in Biology and Chemistry. I went on to complete my degree in BSc Microbiology, solidifying my knowledge in science as a whole.

In our sessions, I’ll use similar techniques to the ones I use in my classroom lessons, with interactive quizzes and exam-style questions to really get you thinking about what we’re learning.

I use the first 5 minutes for a starter activity and to figure out what you do/don’t understand, then for the next 50 minutes I’ll teach the content in a way that is tailored specifically to you, then for the final 5 minutes of the session I’ll provide a plenary activity that allows you to reflect on your own progress - if you feel more confident on the topic or if you need more time on it. This will help to inform my planning for future sessions so I can help you achieve the high grades you deserve.

I chose to become a teacher because I firmly believe that every student can and should reach their fullest potential. No one is 'bad' at science or 'can't do it' - you can and you will, and I will make every effort to ensure that you achieve the grades you want. Nothing is impossible, but you have to be committed to wanting the best for yourself too by interacting with our sessions as much as possible.
