I gained a BA and PhD in Education in the UK but my country of origin is Spain and Spanish my mother tongue. I am a passionate educator and a great believer that it is important and possible to make learning enjoyable, even when it challenges us as learners. In addition to making learning fun, I always adapt my lessons to my students’ needs and interests, as we all learn best when we are interested, motivated and engaged in what we are learning. I have a very flexible approach to teaching and learning as I like to respond to unplanned opportunities that arise during the lessons and which create wonderful and quality learning experiences. Further, my patience and good sense of humour enable me to create a safe and calm learning environment where ‘mistakes’ and ‘misconceptions’ become opportunities to support and further students’ learning. In my lessons I also aim to help students uncover some of the simple patterns and mechanics of the language, which make learning it much easier, as well as to help them discover their incredible potential as learners. Helping my students enjoy their learning and become as knowledgeable and passionate about English as I am, is one of the greatest rewards of working and learning with them.

Having learned English and Basque as additional languages, I have a thorough understanding of the processes and challenges learning a new language present which enable me to better support and help my students overcome these difficulties. My educational knowledge and experience would also enable me to support any difficulties students face within the four aspects of language: ‘reading’, ‘writing’, ‘speaking’ and ‘listening’. I take great pride in knowing that I have always helped my students to a high level of competency through the skills I teach and being able to adjust my tutoring style to match their learning style.
