My experience is based in the performing arts, and so my method of delivery is through elements more commonly found in theatrical training (exploration through games, dramatisation and creating "ingrained knowledge"). I have taught drama in secondary schools before, and the crossover between this and the current English curriculum is notable. Aside from this I am also an experienced writer.
In terms of experience, aside from my professional actor training (for which I was awarded a full scholarship for exceptional talent), I wrote a thesis on education in British schools, and how it could be improved by implementing more of the methods found in actor training. My music training is also useful in teaching English, as it can be used as a tool to clear up confusion around grammar/punctuation - common sticking points for English students.
There is a wealth of crossover here, and if you are interested to hear more specifically about this teaching methodology I would love to hear from you and discuss this more!
The dynamic I opt for in my lessons is one in which trust is formed with the student through these activities, and so when the worm potentially gets difficult, there is a belief that this difficulty can be overcome together - through working as a team.
My method of delivery will be through activities that engage different parts of the brain at different times, hopefully avoiding what can be known as "learning fatigue".
Sometimes the teaching may be through a more physical means (repetition games/imaginative exploration), whilst sometimes may also be through a more traditional means (individual writing tasks). Another important aspect would be verbally discussing points of interest, and the student delivering short "Ted Talks" on a topic (verbalising new knowledge is proven to help move it from short term memory into long term).
Finally, I am a relaxed and upbeat individual, who is happy to meet any student wherever they are on their learning journey, and support them to greater success. Cheers!
