Presentation: The Human Circulatory System

Hello! I’m a passionate Biology tutor with over 7 years of experience teaching students at various levels, from secondary school to university. One of my favorite topics to teach is the Human Circulatory System, as it’s not only vital to life but also fascinating to explore.

My lessons are interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s learning style. I focus on building a strong foundation of core concepts, then layer in detail using real-life examples, visual aids, and exam-style questions.

In this topic, I guide students through the structure and function of the heart, explaining how each chamber, valve, and vessel works together to pump blood efficiently around the body. I use animations, diagrams, and simple analogies—like comparing arteries and veins to high-pressure and low-pressure pipes—to make complex ideas relatable.

We then dive into the double circulatory system, distinguishing between pulmonary and systemic circulation. I highlight how oxygenated and deoxygenated blood travel through the body, and why this system is more efficient for warm-blooded animals like humans.

We also cover components of blood—red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma—focusing on their structure and function. I encourage active learning by asking students to label diagrams, explain processes in their own words, and even “teach back” what they’ve learned, which helps deepen understanding.
