Media studies, as a subject, has become one of the most popular and versatile choices for students studying at all levels. The ever-changing landscape of modern media means that people need to be more literate than ever as to how media is created and disseminated. Tutoring students as they begin the journey into media studies means I can help young learners to develop a strong foundation to pursue many different media related vocations.
I have spent many years of my life pursuing creative media, and in doing, so I have only become more enthusiastic for the craft. I want to pass on this enthusiasm to the next generation of students, to inspire them to create, and understand. Media studies can be deceptively complex, involving academic theory mixed with creative ideas, as well as sharing my knowledge I want to show learners the mix of the practical and creative.
My main goal as a tutor is to ignite the same passion for media in students as I have myself, giving them the space to explore their relationship with media, and do so in a way that keeps them from being dismayed by the topic. I know that I can have a positive and beneficial effect on the education of students with whom I share my knowledge. I want to impart the key tools necessary for success in media studies, and a wider sense of confidence that students can take with them through their academic careers.
I have extensive academic qualifications in media, totalling 7 years of education. Throughout secondary school, college, and university I have dedicated my studies to media. Working from Educational Level Two in GCSE through to Level Seven, I also have a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) in Broadcast Production, and a Masters in Creative Media Practice.
I have taken this education and built a career from it. Helping others to adapt their work to suitability to TV and film, writing scripts of feature, short, and series length, working with companies on their social media output and their creative advertising, and working with production companies in a variety of positions.
