I am a qualified Humanities and Music teacher from Australia. I have experience teaching subjects such as English, modern history, ancient history, geography, and music in high schools in Australia. Before this, I had worked as a private guitar and bass tutor and in various hospitality roles. I left Australia for the UK in May of 2023 to seek new adventures and broaden my horizons as an educator. I am passionate about creating a welcoming and safe approach to education for my students. I aim for my lessons to be all about the student, keeping them personal and engaging.
As an educator, I believe lessons should always be student-driven and focussed. This means that getting to know your student and what works for them is essential, and this will be my first endeavor when beginning lessons. My lessons will always be constructed on the student's needs, but generally, they will follow an 'I do, we do, you do' formula. This means the student can see me demonstrate what needs to be done explicitly, followed by a guided exploration of the topic or skill, and then consolidating the skill by having them complete it independently. This routine and consistency will help to build habits of improvement while also keeping myself, as the teacher, accountable for having the appropriate skills and knowledge to pass on to the student.
Outside of education, I have been a professional musician for over ten years and a keen traveler. These experiences have helped to create excitement and passion for helping people, as I have come into contact with many walks of life throughout these adventures.
