I do an initial assessment to establish what skills require more practice. I create a plan and share it with my pupil for them to see what they are going to work on and what they will be expected to achieve by the end of it.
I revisit key concepts every lesson to ensure that my pupil's understanding is secure and they are ready to move on to the next stage.
I use manipulatives and practical resources, ensuring that all new experiences are as concrete as possible, before moving on to abstract representations.
I mostly work online and I am a big advocate for group learning environments, as it is beneficial to learners to work together, learning from each other, collaborating and solving problems together.
I also work in person, either in my home or in a different context if it's more beneficial to my pupils.
