I am a native English speaker from the United States. As a masters student I have been working with other students of differing nationalities, many of which English is not their first language. Even though I do not speak their native language I can help them find words that they cannot remember or help remember idioms as well. I am able to do this for my students as well. Conversation is an important if not the most important skill when it comes to mastering a new language and I think that by conversing with a native English speaker, they can have more practice thinking in that language. I can help introduce new words and even English slang into people’s vocabulary. This also applies to learning idioms as well. I also have a grasp on English grammar and phonics so no matter how fluent you are you can already read and pronounce any English word, no matter how complicated.
