My teaching style is primarily student led. The student will tell me what their particular weaknesses are and we will tackle those together. I don't intend our sessions to be simple supervision of my student whilst they complete a worksheet, rather we will work collaboratively to ensure understanding through a step-by-step approach, and encouragement of use of initiative. In my experience the best learning happens when the student is able to arrive at a conclusion themselves rather than it simply being given to them as read.
I began teaching as a cover supervisor within secondary schools earlier this year after a short career in the Armed Services. This has given me a wealth of technical expertise and knowledge of practical applications which can be essential to ensuring a firm grasp of a subject.
