My classroom is student friendly. Lessons are designed based on the learning style of the student. Typically, lessons are delivered via Zoom and platforms such as Nearpod. When Nearpod is used, students get to have asynchronous learning experiences that include research, videos, games to check for understanding and immediate feedback. I follow up with students to ensure learning is taking place and to address misconceptions.
Lastly, students in my class get a chance to complete meaningful projects to enhance understanding of the subject matter. An example of a project may include constructing a pedigree of your family for a specific genetic trait when learning about genetics and heredity. We will address the problematic areas and work through the project together to ensure understanding if the student is an interpersonal learner. However, if the student prefers working alone, I will model the project and then give him/her time to complete the assignment. We will discuss the project and give feedback to the student with suggestions and/or praise for a great job. Finally, I am an animated teacher who brings learning to life and first seek to understand my students by building professional relationships with them. I love using technology and thus my students use lots of technology to supplement the learning. I believe in building academic vocabulary which is the root of learning. This can be done through poetry, rapping, artwork, etc. As stated earlier, assignments are designed based on learning style and what makes the student comfortable in the learning process.
