Working as a primary school teacher has been the most rewarding, but also the most demanding and challenging time in my entire life. I have worked with many SEN children with a wide range of needs; I have worked in deprived areas with a very high percentage of pupil premium children and I have worked with looked after children and children under child protection. I loved every minute of my mainstream teaching career. There is no better feeling than seeing the excitement emanating from a child who grasps a concept they’ve been working on for a while. Children always have something to talk about and always tell you the truth. I love it.
My lessons are laid back and focus on what the child needs. I will find different ways of explaining and demonstrating the concept to the child until they grasp it. I am empathetic, supportive and always available for my students. I prefer to take the approach of 'laugh and learn' as I believe children learn more efficiently when they are enjoying themselves and are engaged in the teaching.
