My step son had difficulty reading couple of years ago and I remember automatically wanting to help him and so we started doing alot of reading and grammar practice. We created a rewards programm for improvement purposes and through alot of patience and perseverance his reading skills is now greatly improved. As a matter of facts, he now reads a minimum of 2 books a month!
As a tutor, great communication skills, patience and creating personalized lesson plans for each student is how to ensure a student’s success.
I’ve learned that in order for them to respect a designated tutor, we first need to respect them as well. Once I figure out what they are having difficulties with, through different assessment tests, I make specific lessons to help them improve their skills. If I had to describe myself in a few words I would say that I am friendly, organized, enthusiastic and respectful.
It would be my pleasure to be part of this organization and help raise awareness in children learning disabilities. Being a mom of 3, I can definitely say that I have learned alot on how to help, listen and create ways for them to enjoy sharpening their skills whether it is grammar, litterature, reading etc. It is also important to acknowledge their needs and to know that not every child learns the same way or at the same paste.
