I am a bilingual English/German woman with. experience in teaching English, German and French as well as psychology and statistics. My background in psychology and behavioural science allow me to understand and empathize with people from different backgrounds.
As a person, I am open, patient, positive and mature which I have. applied in the past in my teaching. I have been told that I have great presence, which I believe is crucial in order to keep students attentive and. have an engaging classroom.
I have a degree in psychology and behavioural science as well as a CELTA, therefore I am qualified to teach English as a foreign language. Previously, I used to live with a Spanish family where I taught English and German to the children I was living with.
The content of my lessons varies entirely with the needs of my student: I have done conversational English classes for pensioners or GCSE classes in German for students, so I have a wide range of needs I can accommodate. This also applies to the types of material I use: whether reading, comprehension question or free writing, I believe that learning takes place when different senses and sources are used. Therefore, I use teaching materials that are standardized but also news articles (depending on the level), music and TV scenes/excerpts or Youtube in order to make the class as engaging as possible. As I am a very dynamic and open person, I love to understand the students need more and ask for feedback frequently in order to ensure that the lessons are worth the students time, money and work for both.
