I have previously tutored Maths at both KS3 and GCSE levels privately in a similar online 1-to-1 manner and successfully been able to improve the scores of majority of my students, many of which struggled especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This experience has been vital in showing me the simplest, most effective ways I can explain complex concepts to someone for the first time, and I believe that these experiences have made me very good at articulating key Mathematical ideas. Having studied this content myself for the first time in the last 5 years, I also believe my time in school has shown me how the same idea can be learnt, taught or memorised in many different ways. Therefore I am eager to use these experiences and further develop myself as a teacher.


Online, the experience is certainly different to in-person, however I have learnt that the best method is to accommodate for the different ways each of my students learnt. Some preferred an independent approach focused on tough questions and "learning as they go along" whilst others preferred the traditional method that schools often use, where theory is taught to build an understanding before harder questions are given. I understand that both methods work very well, and my previous experiences have taught me to recognise which method will be the best for the specific student I am tutoring. Therefore, whilst online teaching presents its own challenges, I am confident that I have the necessary experience to deliver high-quality tutoring.
