First, explain mathematical concepts in detail. Focus on understanding the ‘why’ behind the methods, not just the ‘how.’ Once the concepts are clear, apply the knowledge to solve exam-style questions. Lessons typically last 1-3 hours, but the main priority is ensuring the student fully understands the topic. Homework will be assigned, such as completing past papers or specific problem sets. These lessons are ideal for Year 10-11 GCSE students (ages 15-16). Achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics and have previous experience teaching (2 years) students in this age group.

My tutoring approach is tailored to the specific needs of each student. I focus on identifying weak areas and breaking down difficult topics into manageable steps to build confidence. Topics such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry and data handling are explained with real-life examples where possible to ensure understanding and relevance. I also emphasise exam techniques, such as understanding how to approach different question types and managing time effectively during exams.

Lessons incorporate interactive elements, like solving problems together and reviewing errors to learn from them. My goal is to help students not only achieve excellent grades but also develop a strong foundation in mathematics that will benefit them in future studies. Patience, encouragement and a structured approach are at the heart of my teaching style.
