I have had experience tutoring students doing GCSEs and A-Levels, mainly Maths but also Physics. I can also teach Further Maths if you are looking for a tutor who has experience in the Edexcel curriculum, however other exam boards are similar so I will be happy to teach anyhow. I usually start of the lesson with some questions to see the student's capabilities within a certain topic (or sub-topic) that was taught the lesson prior and to see what the student has retained. After correcting any mistakes I then move on to the current lessons and start teaching the topic the student wants me to go over. I do a breakdown method where I teach him/her all the key information required to know by the exam board itself and what is noted on the specification (as that is what the student will be assessed on), and then I do a couple of example questions and show the step-by-step method of reaching the answer. After this, I give the student a few practice questions and see how much progress the student has made (if the student had already learnt the topic in school) or see how much he/she has understood the topic during the lesson. I will set weekly homework and give structured advice on how to revise and how to balance their studies and life as I know it is very difficult from my own experience.
