I am currently doing my PGCE at the University of Cambridge in Primary education. I am on my first placement now with Year 3 and I love it!
I have experience creating lessons from scratch, and adapting resources for accessibility.
I love to make learning fun and engaging, and enjoy basing work the children's interests to encourage learning.
Prior to my PGCE, I worked as a Teaching Assistant. I ran interventions for children across all age phases, in Maths, English, Spelling, Handwriting and times tables. I absolutely loved my job, and built great relationships with each of the children. I also worked very closely with children with SEND and SEMH needs, and was able to adapt my lessons and interventions accordingly.
I also have experience tutoring online. During this summer, I worked as an Au Pair abroad. I tutored a Year 3 child once a day for an hour in Maths, English, Spelling and Times Tables. I worked closely with the parents and grandparents to ensure they were aware of what she was learning, and that they knew the reason for each lesson. Once I returned home, I continued to tutor the child online. The child had ADD, which has given me confidence in my ability to adapt my resources, teaching style and communication remotely to support additional learning needs.
As a child, I also used tutoring for Maths and English. This means I understand why children end up needing tutoring beyond just academics. I understand the emotional toll learning can have on children, and how important tutors can be at encouraging learning and fostering an environment where children can express what they are struggling with, without the anxiety created by a classroom full of peers.
Thank you for considering me. I hope to hear from you soon!
