My lessons focus on exam preparation and providing extra support to students alongside their regular learning at school or college. I start with assessment of the strengths/weaknesses of the student by reviewing recent scores in exams and assessments and discussing any particular problem areas or gaps in understanding. From this I will work with student to support their studies through focus on those particular areas, through discussions on content focus, additional exercises for understanding, and reviewing homework assignments for technique. Students can choose lessons to be either content focused or exam technique focused each time. Students can also choose how much involvement they have in lesson preparation, i.e. students can come to me with questions and content that they are struggling on, or I can prepare content and questions on topics that I think will be relevant and beneficial to their learning based on my initial assessment. I will also check in with students each session to ensure that I am covering useful content. My specific experience is with AQA A Level Psychology in which our chosen topics were; aggression, schizophrenia and cognition and development. However, I can confidently teach other specifications and topics.
