Hello! Let me tell you a bit about my teaching style. I believe that the best way to improve your English grade is through making yourself comfortable with analysing texts. My lessons will therefore focus on dealing with unseen material and your response to it. We will focus on learning how to spot techniques and then construct an argument around what you have found within the text. This being said, we can also focus on any set texts you may have. After we learn how to recognise literary and language techniques, I will help you to structure these into a well-argued essay, we will go through good essay structure and how best to adapt this to any question given. In order to be good at writing essays, we will learn how to unpick questions, manipulate them towards your argument and recognise their limitations (this will help for your essays to really stand out against other people!). The aim if my lessons is to make you comfortable and familiar with all types of literature, so that you learn to enjoy it and feel capable of tackling anything!

I also offer personal statement assistance and Oxbridge application and interview preparation mentoring for those wanting to study English at degree level. These lessons will be similar to that of a normal English tutoring lesson, dealing a lot with initial responses to and comparison of unseen texts as this is what the ELAT entrance exam and interview entail.
