I use an interactive teaching style - focussing on building the student's confidence and enjoyment of the English they are studying, in my experience a confident learner is a positive learner.

I have been a mature student myself so I understand the anxieties and challenges of learning as a mature student. Consequently, I ensure that my classes are enjoyable and interactive with an emphasis on the learner's needs and I tailor the classes accordingly. I discuss with the student what their motivations are for learning English, as well as any other interests they may have - then I create and provide inter-active classes which the learner finds enjoyable and informative.

I have a teaching background and I have taught English and History in the private school sector in the UK. I have also taught as a private tutor for many years. As a private tutor I enabled younger children to pass the Common Entrance Exam and assisted older students to prepare for their A Level's in English and History. my experience as a history teacher means that when I teach English I am also able to provide classes which include some British History and culture, if the student would like to have that as part of their learning.

My classes are very communicative and focussed on discussion, this approach builds the student's confidence with speaking English and the inclusion of real life scenarios from the media, or inspired by the student's personal interests, broadens their depth of understanding, enabling them to feel empowered when engaging with speaking English.
