I am more than just a teacher! I will inspire, motivate, and (hopefully) entertain you during our lessons. I have a proven track record as an exceptional teacher, trainer, coach and mentor. My goal during our lessons will be to make sure that you have learnt and understood (and hopefully enjoyed) the content.
During the COVID-19 pandemic I led successful online teaching and training programmes across many areas of biology. Online teaching requires a very different approach, compared with F2F teaching, and you will benefit from my experience with various tricks and techniques to keep your attention from wandering!
I have worked for many years as a scientist in a multinational company (where I was nominated as a Science and Technology Fellow, which recognizes exceptional achievements). What this means for you is that I will bring my teaching to life with real examples and case studies.
My qualifications include a PhD in genetics from Cambridge University, but also straight As in all of my GCSEs and A levels - so I will be "walking the talk" when I teach you to excel in your exams. (It's divulging my age, but I must mention that A* was not used when I took my exams!).
Outside of my "day job" my passion is sustainability and biodiversity. I have been a volunteer citizen scientist in biodiversity surveys for many years - which means that I can bring even more real-life experience to my teaching.
I am experienced in teaching and training non-native English speakers. I have been an invited speaker at numerous international conferences across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. If you are a non-native English speaker you can be confident that you will understand my English.
I am also strong advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.
