I have taught A-level AQA Psychology and Sociology for the past 3 years in which I helped students achieve the highest grades ever awarded for the subject in the school I worked at.
I have studied psychology myself at A-level, undergraduate level, postgraduate level and I am embarking on a masters in counselling in September, this means I have the in depth knowledge and skills needed to teach this discipline to a high standard.
My lessons are quite structured, they also include a combination of breaking down content in an understandable and accessible manner, including a lot of varied tasks to check your understanding e.g. diagrams, videos, quizzes, application scenarios and formulating effective evaluation points which can be easily remembered. Additionally in every lesson I like to focus on exam questions and structure and how to create concise essay plans for each spread so there’s no question you can’t answer related to a certain topic.
Due to my teaching experience I have extensive resources, worksheets, glossaries, lesson and revision PowerPoints that I would be happy to share.
Additionally I also do a lot of counselling work with young people and teenagers so I know how to work and interact with younger age groups.
I have also worked with students from a variety of needs and abilities e.g. some who have achieved A*s to some who struggle to achieve a grade C however I have a lot of experience of adapting my teaching style to fit different preferences and likes, I am open to changing and adapting resources or lessons to make sure you feel comfortable and that you are getting the most of out of your tutoring sessions.
