I have over twelve years of experience of teaching Functional Skills English and Mathematics (E1-L2) in post- 16 and in excess of 33 years of teaching experience in English and maths including level 3/GCSE.• I am an eminently qualified and seasoned practitioner with a Level 7 in English (Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching for Adults) and a Level 5 Teaching Diploma in Mathematics (RQF/Numeracy specialism).• I have taught ESOL/EFL for over 30 years and currently support the running of the summer and winter English language schools at the University of Wolverhampton as a visiting lecturer.• I am an expert user of Zoom/MS Teams and utilise a range of online tools and e-learning platforms to teach Functional Skills English including activeinspire, padlet, google jamboard, menti, goconqr, etc to support remote working practices. I am an expert at preparing students for FS English and maths examinations and use formative assessments as part of the task-based learning (TBL) approach which is highly effective for L1/L2 students to pass their exams. As a Master’s Diploma holder in Transformational Coaching combined with my significant post-16 experience, I am very familiar with IAG processes, induction and progression steps to support growth mindset development and mental health issues from learners. I currently use padlet and google docs to store active schemes of work, lesson plans, resources and formative assessments through links and document uploads for easy access. I use BKSB and Skills Forward proficiently for IA/DAs together with my own bespoke DAs (for example with free writing and SPAG). I have substantial experience of using IA/DA data to devise SMART targets for ILPs and use a range of AFL for ‘just in time’ assessments and review of progress from ‘prove-it tasks’. I always keep meticulous admin records including a course quality file, class lists, attendance records for audit through an online excel sheet.
