First class will consist of discussions about what the child knows and identify the concepts on which work needs to be done. I treat it as the opportunity to find the knowledge gaps if any and a way to plan the next steps.

Here is an email sample I share with the parent after first class.

"The discussions with joseph, I clearly saw that he is completely aware of the concepts of rise, run, and slope. I also observed that he knows how to work on various operations involving intergers using a number line.

In order to cement these concepts I am going to do small activities on run, rise and slope individually. Also, I am going to work on different operations using integers individually so that Luca can easily identify and work on them in his mind without any prompt. "
