My tutoring sessions will take place online on Zoom or in-person.

Online lessons will typically begin with a small catch-up and introduction before diving into the work. I will tailor my lessons to your exam board and we will work your textbooks, starting with weaker areas.

Biology is a difficult subject with many complex concepts, so my aim is to break it down into bitesize chunks. I will do this using my educational background - I have a degree in Biomedical Science, and I will explore what works for you and what helps you learn. Many topics in biology involve diagrams, so there's a good chance you will catch me using my whiteboard to explain an idea to you. My previous pupil benefitted a lot from this and I believe it's important to tap into visual learning as well as the standard memorisation techniques.

Once we have the content hammered down, we will work heavily on exam technique. As someone who did GCSE and A-level biology, I know that exam technique is as important as knowing the content, it is also the difference between a B student and an A* student. Exam technique will involve going through past papers relevant to your exam board and implementing key words and phrases into your answers as well as structuring the essay questions.

To conclude my lessons, I usually set homework but this can be optional depending on whether I think it's necessary. If you don't complete homework I set for you, don't worry, I understand better than most what it's like to not do the homework - I was once a teenager (not very long ago). I am very open and honest with my tutees, I am not here to punish you but instead teach you and offer advice on how to manage your work better.
