I prefer to have a conversation with the child and parents and focus on the areas they are struggling with. I will prepare for the session beforehand and make sure I have suitable resources ready for the child to use during the session. I will introduce the topics and practice a few questions with the child until they feel comfortable to have a go independently. Once they have shown they are able to answer questions on that specific topic, we will move onto another topic. Before starting our new topic, we will spend 5 minutes reviewing the previous topic once again. I will also be open to hearing feedback from the child and if they would like another method of teaching that they may find easier.
