Me myself being a student who passed with a gold medal in Pharmaceutical sciences cannot emphasise enough on how important concept based learning is. Building concepts and presenting it in an impressive way both are extremely important. Especially in Science subjects, you can only tackle difficult topics if you have strong basic concepts and only then can you present it in a way that others can understand it easily.
While teaching a subject I always like to start from the basics and build the concept gradually with the student so that it is not too much burdening on the student and is easier to understand. Rather than giving direct instructions, I always try to teach by means of collaborative learning.
I have a Masters degree in Pharmaceutical chemistry and graduated in Pharm-D summa cum laude. I have experience of working as a private tutor for almost 18 months.
My lessons format includes starting from basic definition understanding with help of examples, leading to understanding of all the core concepts involved and ending at solving questions and related problems.
When starting a new with a student, I like to stat with a 2 minute quiz, just to get a little insight of concepts of student, and then devise my plan accordingly that meets the personal needs of student. Thus, each of my student gets his own personalised study schedule. this helps him, keep his studies well-planned and organised.
Learning is not about what to learn, instead it is how you understand, better understanding leads to better learning.
