Firstly, I like to find common ground with the student. I want to know what makes the student tick through their interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes as this will inform how a English can be taught and communicated with. I also want to build up a trust and a mutual respect. After all, they are extra curricular lessons and so the teaching will be informal, relaxed and fun. As to the lessons. I like to focus down on what the student doesn't understand or finds difficult. By the end of every session the student will have grown in confidence, and excited to learn more!
