I have been a teacher for ten years so plan vibrant, exciting lessons where there are lots of opportunities to learn something new, ask lots of questions and show you have understood by having a go yourself! I love making sure that children can understand ideas fully- not just get the right answer. This is how they can achieve mastery in any subject.
I always start by establishing what children already know and building upon it with new information. If a child is really struggling with a concept, the whole session can be focused around that. If they need challenging with something new, it is my job to move their learning on.
I specialise in English and Design Technology but also have ten years of experience teaching subjects across the curriculum. I have particular expertise in Science, where I have led the subject in a range of schools for two years. I also have a vast range of experience in the teaching of maths, including Key Stage Two maths, where I have ensured a high pass rate for two year six classes. This included booster groups to ensure that children on the cusp of passing their SATs were able to pass.
My lessons are fast paced, inclusive and allow opportunities for me to assess the learning of children as well as allow them an opportunity to assess their own learning. This ensures that every session is as productive as it can be and gives children a sense of being in control of their learning journey.
