How do I know this is the case?
Well I've been teaching in one form or another pretty much my entire life. Doesn't seem to matter what I learn, once I understand it, I want to help others master it as well. My career has spanned actuarial science, authoring examinations, training data apprentices (not to mention a stint as an R&D intern at the mill which makes our UK banknotes) and one thing has remained constant when training others: Science is a verb! We have to *use* the theories we are taught in order for our brains to process them, building stronger neural pathways. Stronger pathways equal faster recall under stress, and what's more stressful than a looming exam?
How do I manage to do this remotely?
Well, I didn't think it was possible either; but then covid came along and removed the option for in person teaching...so Zoom because our new kitchen table for us to work from. Annotate is my favourite thing ever.
We'll:
- chat through what you want to achieve (high level and super specific)
- discuss your interests/career aspirations so that the examples I use are relevant and interesting *to you*
- assess your current level of understanding (sometimes this will be using past papers, at others I'll pose on the spot questions for you)
- set some objectives to keep us on track
- work through example problems, starting off together but eventually you won't need my hints!
- watch your understanding (and grades) skyrocket!
