During my 13 years of teaching, I know that my calm, confident and creative teaching style has had a huge impact on the children in my care.

I have worked in three primary schools as a qualified teacher. In each school, I have learnt some valuable lessons about working collaboratively, behaviour management, teaching and learning and most recently, what it takes to work in an Outstanding school.

I take pride in my dedicated work ethic, which is reflected in the approach my class take to their own learning. I believe it is crucial to develop pupils’ resilience and determination and for them to value success and personal progress. My experiences in school have shown that I am able to establish a strong learning environment to work in, by developing a professional rapport with the children and team around me. This is established from the time I begin to work with children and staff, as a mutual understanding of high expectations and respectful behaviour becomes an integral part of classroom life. I feel that a good relationship between the teacher, support staff and pupils is crucial in supporting children’s development. I enjoy creating a constructive and fun atmosphere which children enjoy being a part of and have found that this approach leads to improved concentration and understanding.

I am confident in resourcing, planning and delivering exciting lessons and make thoughtful decisions around learning which benefit children. This, in turn, creates a happy, productive classroom.
I have taught all areas of the National Curriculum, and have secure subject knowledge in all subjects. I also have a good understanding of French and Spanish. I very much enjoyed working as the curriculum lead whilst at my most recent school. I was able to work alongside colleagues and children to adapt and personalise a unique curriculum for the school. Rich and relevant connections across subjects allowed the children to retain more information and make strong links within their own learning journey.

I appreciate and understand the importance of summative and formative assessment which I regularly incorporate into my teaching. I feel confident in assessing pupils, to record and track the learning that occurs. I have used a range of assessment techniques including observations and questioning to extend learning, which have been used to inform my future planning.
