Honestly, I have no formal experience as a tutor. In the past, I have only tutored my peers from high school to university level. It was a very informal setting but I believe I can function well in a formal setting too. One thing is certain, I take my time to explain lessons in the simplest form possible because I have to ensure my tutees understand the lessons I am trying to teach. Therefore, I know the dynamics of my lessons would be engaging and insightful. Also, I would go the extra mile to pay attention to the individual needs of my tutees and tailor my lessons to satisfy their various needs e.g. some individuals are audio-visual learners or audio learners, like myself. So, it is important to make use of visual illustrations to facilitate understanding and retention. Using this medium will create lasting impressions on the minds of the students and make the learning process way easier. Also, there would be regular assessments to put into practice what they have learnt thus far. Again, there are some students, like myself who prefer practicals than theories, because it aids their learning process and quickens it too. Some individuals might not fully grasp the basis of a lesson until it is put into practice, hence the need for assessments, quizzes, exercises, etc. My observations overtime while tutoring my peers have taught me to always tailor my teaching styles to the different individual learning needs and methods of every individual I handle and I'm confident that I would do a good job.
