I have a passion for teaching, particularly English, and I am strong in explaining concepts in a clear and fun manner for any age. I also have a wide-ranging knowledge of various texts often studied in English, and can apply teaching and analysis techniques to any text. I cover English lessons from P1-S6, from learning to read and write to analysing elevated and complex texts with a view to writing a comprehensive and high-ranking essay or critical response that will be loved by the SQA!
I have always loved reading, which was shown during my SQA exams, where I gained a grade of A band 1 in National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher English. I am now going on to study an MA in Comparative Literature and Classical Studies at the University of St Andrews, proving my passion for an ever-growing range of literature and drive to expand my knowledge.
I have experience working with children through working as a Girlguiding young leader with both the Rainbows and the Brownies for a year, as well as teaching 2-5 year-olds and 9-11 year-olds within my dance school for 5 years. I was also manager and director of my school's Shakespeare Club for 2 years, both teaching and directing Shakespeare plays to years S1-S3.
I am happy to give lessons both online across Scotland and in person in the Dundee and St Andrews area. Lessons could take place at the student's house or in a public space, such as a coffee shop or library.
