As an experienced primary school teacher I believe lessons should be child-centred. This means that it should meet the needs of the child whether through the use of interactive games or differentiated resources. Whatever is needed to ensure the child understands what is being taught.
Learning should also be fun and engaging. Nobody likes to be bored! The use of images, videos, interactive games especially when doing times tables all help to maintain focus and engagement.
Of course practise makes perfect and sometimes putting pen to paper is the only way. There will be times when this is necessary for example in Literacy when working on sentence structure and expanding sentences. Focusing on handwriting and the ability to work out answers on paper is a skill which needs to be nurtured.
Therefore my lessons will be engaging, well-planned and child-centred to ensure that the interests and needs of your child are met. The goal is for them to gain a solid academic foundation and succeed.
