A passionate, and motivated teacher of English, I am dedicated to ensuring that as many children as possible receive the highest standard of education. Adept at preparing young people for exams, my tutoring lessons often focus on exam technique and strategies for increasing attainment. I promote practice and modelling throughout lessons, providing detailed feedback to work produced.
I currently teach at a school in Wales as a whole school Literacy Coordinator. Such is my position, that I have the benefit of being exposed to a wide range of different teaching styles, materials, and teaching methods; I take my professional development very seriously.
I am experienced in tutoring for all exam boards and am an experienced English Literature exam marker for the AQA exam board.
Previously a student at Birmingham City University, I worked as a full time teacher of English (Language and Literature) at a secondary school near Walsall, whilst studying for a PGDE qualification through the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. Having achieved Qualified Teacher Status, I moved to a school in Hereford where I taught for two years and supported a wonderful class of students through the latest GCSE season; over 80% achieved on, or above, target during said exams.
Prior to pursuing my current professional position, I worked as a Chalet Manager, charged with ensuring the well-being and professional development of forty teenagers. I was fortunate enough to work with some brilliant young minds and it inspired me to work closer with young people, moving towards tackling the systemic problem of educational inequality.
