Japanese Language Teacher
Instructor of the Japanese language and culture, catering to adult learners in preparation for further study.

Class averages in 2021 = 82%; 2022 = 85%

Class format: online
Lessons will be conducted in English and Japanese.
Lessons will be interactive set up into lecture and seminar formats. During lectures, students gain information and understanding of Japan and the Japanese language. During seminars, students use what they have learnt during the lecture in an interactive way. This will involve speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises. Students are also expected to complete homework tasks issued by the teacher before the next lesson. They are to be submitted through an online portal such as Google Classroom.

Class Objectives:
• be able to participate in simple social conversations
• be able to read and write simple texts in hiragana, katakana, and 29 kanji
• be able to talk about school/university/work life; be able to ask someone out, describe where things are, talk about events in the past and time relatives.
• gain insight into some aspects of Japanese culture and society
• have a foundation for continued study

This class is for students who want to be able to communicate in Japanese; are prepared to work steadily each week.
