As a tutor, I spend time working through initial assessments so that we can baseline strengths and areas for improvement. I then create a personalised action plan with relevant weekly work to be completed so that we can work on developing comprehension and analysis. I monitor the student's work with a shared file for the parents so that progress can be acknowledged as well as give an insight into the weekly work being done.
I have a balance of allowing the student to guide parts of the session as well as taking control when necessary in order to teach the correct content and maintain focus on the work. While teaching English, I try to make it as approachable and enjoyable as possible depending on the student and their attitude to the content.
My content is in line with the current UK curriculum and can be made to cater to the individual if I am made aware of any varying content that works alongside school work as support.
