My lessons always start with me checking in on the students’ wellbeing - learning is better when you’re relaxed!
I then introduce the lesson and what we are going to do in the session. I will ask you how confident you are in the subject and if you’re not confident at all, we can go through what you find difficult before we go into learning.
During the lesson, we can start right from the beginning if that’s what you need - if not, we can dive right into refreshing ourselves with the topic and trying out some questions. Don’t worry if you get anything wrong - we all make mistakes! We can have a discussion of where you went wrong and what we can do to fix it and help you remember for next time. I like to use practical tools to help you learn - if you can visualise the learning taking place, you’re more likely to remember it. This could be using physical objects, making up songs or directing you to pictures and videos.
At the end of the session, I will always check in with you about how you found the session. If you found it hard, we can add an extra session in if you need it. If not, we can move on to the next topic. My aim is for you to feel more confident after the session than you did before the session, so be honest and you will get more out of it! Oh and always remember - you CAN do it.
