As a trained and a well experienced Language teacher/instructor, I have worked in the school environment teaching English and French Language for more than a decade. I am experienced in teaching children, adolescent and adults. I have worked with autistic and special need children rendering speech therapy to them. One of the prominent shifts in the teaching profession in terms of approach was the movement of teaching focus from teacher-centered, to learner-centered, where the focus of the whole teaching and learning process is on the needs, interest and ability of the learner.
So, my students' academic goal and interest remain at the center of all our engagements. I understand from experience how uninteresting student, even adults find language classes especially the ones packed with grammatical rules and boring activities. For this reason, I have devised engaging and interesting approach and methods for taking my classes. I employ mixed teaching methods as I make use of audio/visual method, where students have access to engaging videos and audios from native speakers. My students learn the four basic communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking) in more brealistic contexts, I deploy both direct and indirect method of instruction depending on the level and background of the student, but majourly, my class is filled with exiting communicative activities that will make my learners acquire their target language in the most nature/enabling environment and with least anxiety.
I encourage my students to believe in themselves and exercise patience as we unravel the mysteries of languages, while having a splendid time.
