I started off as a teaching assistant and was authoritative enough to work 2 classes side by side then transitioned to working with SEN children more and found that they responded to me very well and I was able to watch them grow into shining individuals. I enjoyed working with them and encouraging them to have a go at things that seemed tricky at first and they were often able to make lovely progress. After this, I transitioned into being a private tutor, specialising in Numeracy. My growth mindset has allowed me to believe that every child can learn but at different speeds and I believe this is how I was able to teach children successfully by actively not applying a one size fits all approach and was able to paraphrase when needed without any judgement or impatience.
